    Steelers' Tomlin focuses on penalties

On what the Steelers need to improve upon for their game against the Buffalo Bills:

"We've got to do a better job from a penalty standpoint. Pre-snap penalties and post-snap penalties are not a sign of a good football team, so we've got to get better in that area in a hurry."

On his self-evaluation from his first NFL game as a head coach:

"I grade myself on wins and losses, so I gave myself a passing grade. Was I perfect? Absolutely not. But I'm my worst critic."

On Bills starting linebacker Paul Posluszny, who is a Hopewell High and Penn State graduate:

"To be an opening day starter as a rookie speaks for itself. His best football is ahead of him. He's a pretty good football player right now."

On Ben Roethlisberger getting off to a good start this season:

"I know that Ben has had a heck of an offseason, and I know it's what he expected. He's a very good football player. He's going to get better."

On whether he watched the Ravens-Bengals game Monday night:
"It was on, but so was my video machine, and I didn't see much other than a few celebrations by (Bengals wideout) Chad Johnson and (Ravens safety) Ed Reed. Monday evening is a work day for us."

Im looking forward to seeing Poz this week. Tomlin is right though, the penalties are killer and they need to be minimized. The first few games of a season though it's typical to have more penalites especially on offense as those guys begin to finally work together and install the offense that they really didn't use in the preseason.

I'm really liking Tomlin's focus and discipline he is bringing to the Steelers. Pre and post snap penalties are back breakers and huge momentum killers! If can eliminate those entirely or at least reduce the number drastically then yeah the Steelers will be one "well oiled machine"

After the 2006 campaign we need all the discipline we can get. We've had a tough camp and a focused offseason. Now we need to channel that focus into the regular season and keep the games as penalty free as we can.
