Opening night in Pittsburgh - we kicked off a new year
Football season is finally here
Playing at home is where it begins
We were looking for a victory over the Fins
The Bus was there - that used to be a norm
He's got a new job now - so he wasn't in uniform
Ben was there - on the sidelines though
It was Charlie Batch's turn to run the show
The 1st quarter sped by with a lot of 3 and outs
No one was looking too good - we had our doubts
There were lots of bad plays, missed tackles, overthrown balls
And hating the refs for some incorrect calls
One of the good things this game showed
We can count on Willie Parker to carry the load
We were still getting beaten by the Miami offense
As the game progressed we were all a little tense
Just when we thought we were toast
Heath Miller ran down the field when we needed it most
Was it really a score? The replays say no
But it would have been 1st down and goal to go
Unfortunately, Nick Saban held the flag a little too long
And now all we hear from the Fins fans is a whiny song
Defeating the Dolphins didn't prove to be easy
But the game was sealed after pickoffs by Troy and Peezy
In his excitement - Joey kissed Cowher on the cheek
Giving people something to talk about all week
Overall, Charlie definitely succeeded
And Hines made some big plays when they were needed
Now we head south to play the Jaguars on Monday night
Smashmouth football - it's always a fight
Jacksonville, this won't be same outcome as last year's game
We have a quarterback but Tommy isn't his name
So as we go into Alltel - will it be Charlie or Ben?
Either way our guys in Black and Gold will win again!
