    The Catch of All Time

    The Catch of All Time

Willie Mays; the New York Giant great centerfielder, made this catch of the century in the 1954 World Series against the Cleveland Indians, winners of 111 regular season games.

The Most Famous Catch in HistoryAfter Mays caught the ball, he turned and doubled up the runner at second base to end the inning.

Willie was playing in his second year in the major leagues. Millions of baseball fans watched on their new television sets and were utterly amazed at this great play. Fans were talking for months about this wonderful baseball player. Baseball writers stated this young Mays was the greatest player they had ever seen. Thanks for the memories.
