Ben has emergency Apendectomy, will miss the opening game.

Just heard it on the news he has to undergo emergency surgery today ane he will miss at least the first game on Thursday against the Miami Dolphins. Im betting any money this surgery has everything to do with the motorcycle accident back in June. This is not good news at all.

Has nothing to do with his accident.....The steelers would not have started the season with only 2 QB's if there were any remaining questions about Roethlisberger and his accident. It is just plain bad luck that his appendix had to come out 5 days before the start of the season...
Ben could miss up to 1 to 3 weeks with his surgery, although everyone heals differently. Some patients are back to work in 3 days and others take the full 2 weeks.... Obviously ben heals quickly, i dont think it will be soon enough for this thursday...considering the type of work he does.....If Batch comes on on Thursday and plays well i htink that Ben will rest week 2 as well.....If Batch comes out and loses then Ben will start week 2

I dont want to say your right or wrong by saying it has nothing to do with the accident but I think it does. His organs and stuff might still not be functioning normally and thus it caused it to burst a lot sooner then it wanted it too. But like you said I expect him to miss 2 games at the most. There is no way in hell he sits out the cincy game in week 3. There gonna take there time with this injury and hopefully he heals quick and it all works out for the best. Ben's health though has just been an absolute mess it seems like. There is always something wrong with this guy constantly. This better be the last thing this guy has all year long. Its just irritating you never see guys like Brady or Manning get hurt at all and here is Ben he gets hurt all the time. Its very frustrating.

Ughh, of course this all has to happen the week of a real game. Not during the preseason but the regular season. Just wonderful...

Bad news indeed. At least it's now and not at the end of the year.

    From ESPN.com:

Ben Roethlisberger underwent emergency appendectomy on Sunday and is expected to spend the night in a Pittsburgh-area hospital. It is unknown exactly how long the Steelers QB might be out, but it is expected that he will miss Thursday's season opener against the Dolphins.

    More from KDKA...

-Surgury went well, things will be day to day with his recovery
-We are looking for another QB, not Jacobs. Tommy Maddox is not in consideration but Brian St. Pierre is
