They don't if your talking about the traditional "grind it out" at the end of the game with 3-5 yds each time and move the chains to keep the clock running..but RB's like Willie, LT, and the like can run the clock out they just do it by getting a few more yards at a pop

I was thinking your in the 4th you have a good lead the other teams D looks tired and broke down............thats when Parker needs to be on the sidelines doing interveiws and drinking gatorade not out there on the field waiting for some pissed off NT to break his leg. We need a big durable back in the game at that point

WOW this nut shell about our running backs still going on since Jerome retired!!!

for the record, i really liked Haynes. I find it hard for people in this thread to say this guy never produced when all he ever got was scraps as he was behind in the depth charts to the BUS and Parker. It's not exactly shabby to be second to those two is it? Also lets face it The Bus and Parker are not COMPLETE backs, ie, grind it out, home run, pass catching, or pass blocking guys are they?

Haynes has however been pretty decent at ALL of the above requirements yet people are still slagging him off? He's quality and, maybe he won't make the team this year, personally i hope he does.

Leading me on to Najeh. Again people are saying he hasn't cut it and doesn't belong and needs to proove. What games have you been watching. Correct me if i'm wrong but Davenport helped us IMMENSLY in our 3rd down back sit.
He was souly responsible for the extra protection Ben got as Parker couldn't cut it yet are you going to get down on Willie now cos of that? Plus he certainly knew how to run over people like the bus.. or did you guys not see the game v the Browns last year?

my point is the running back has many requirements
Willie covers a lot but not all of them,
Davenport covers the rest and in my opion has a heck of a lot to offer if given the extra responsibilty of more running time.

However as a TEAM unit as "running backs", if we have Parker, Davenport, Barlow and Haynes as our rb's this year we have men for every occasion, every situation and talent and experience to back it up.... get ready for some great football as as a unit.... THIS LOT HAS THE LOT!!!!

    GO Steelers !!!!!!

I dont think we can afford to keep all four of those guys plus Kreider. That would be five just for RB and FB out of a 53 man team. Parker needs help I am not sure who it will be I hope this Barlow guy is as great as Barry Sanders I am just not holding my breath

Pete got a great point. Najeh has come through on many occassions, last season. He really came through on special team and on some occassions has produce first downs for us. Najeh, when healthy, could be a force to be reckon with. I am still wishing for Khun to make this team.
