The recent signing of Kevan Barlow does not mean Verron Haynes is out of the picture at running back. Haynes is still rehabilitating the knee he seriously injured last October at the Steelers' South Side practice facility. The Steelers released the reliable third-down back in March for salary-cap reasons. They haven't changed their position that they want to re-sign Haynes if he is healthy enough for training camp. Coach Mike Tomlin said he hasn't talked with Haynes but said he's heard positive things about how the fifth-year veteran is working to get back to full strength.

"From what I understand, he's been doing a good job of it," Tomlin said.

I think if Barlow stays healthy that would keep Verron on the out but if Barlow struggles or gets hurt again then Haynes could have the door opened more for a return.

Haynes has the advantage only be cause he has played for STEELERS more recently. Najeh and Barlow competing also will make for an interesting camp!!

Well barlow never stay's healthy,so i bet Haynes will be back IMO
Not really a barlow fan anyway's,but if he wears the B&G I'll be one then

Never been impressed by Haynes. I've rooted for him to do well, but he has never really produced. I love his attitude if he truly is so positive and working so hard, but I am waiting to see if it will all actually come to fruition.

yeah i defintley agree with you they all might not be capable of getting the stating job but they all are solid back ups!

Yea Barlow has had problems staying healthy in the past but so has Haynes.lol As for Haynes he has suffered season ending injuries 3 times in the last five years.lol

Haynes would still be valuable at this point if he gets healthy because he can play FB too.
