PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- Steelers Chairman Dan Rooney was honored Sunday night with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Dapper Dan Dinner.
Rooney was honored for his contributions to the Steelers and to the Pittsburgh community throughout his life.
When he was introduced, he walked down the aisle to a sea of Terrible Towels.
Rooney told Channel 11 news, "It's very humbling to receive an award that Joe Paterno and Arnold Palmer received."
When asked what he's most proud of, Rooney told Channel 11, "I think the biggest thing would be keeping the Steelers in Pittsburgh in a viable way, playing good football and realizing that the fans are why we're here, and just doing that. "
Penguins star Sidney Crosby was honored as the Sportsman of the Year, and basketball star Swin Cash was honored as the Sportswoman of the Year at the banquet.
