damn, i'll miss the midget just because he can lay a hit, and he was a good backup, oh well, we are still solid at safety, troy, anthony, and ryan........a 4th rounder will do for depth

Some forget he was the NCAA's 1999 Jim Thorpe Award winner for the nations best defensive back. By the time draft day arrived he had slipped into the fourth round.
bears are sad at safety, this is a good pickup for them
He wasn't one of our superstars but he was a player who did contribute and occasionally he did make a big play for us. Do we save anything on the cap by losing him?![]()
Hey Carter was a solid backup but its not the end of the world that he is gone. The Steelers still have 3 solid players at safety.
Troy and Anthony will become one of the best safety combos this year. They Ryan Clark will serve as the 3rd safety. The Steelers can either bring in a vet backup safety or draft one on the second day of the draft to replace Carter.
Don't count out Ryan just yet to still possibly be the starter in 2007. Anthony is going to have his work cut out for him to win that job. Personally I can't wait to see Smith out on the field every week but Ryan won't just roll over and give the job to him![]()
yeah clark did a hell of a job last year, then when he went out smith did a hell of a job, smith kept that job though so you never know, we have a good group of hard hitting safeties
Pro Football TalkBEARS HAVEN'T SIGNED CARTER
In an item posted earlier on Sunday night, ESPN.com reported that the Bears had signed former Steelers safety Tyrone Carter to a three-year deal.
But the folks in Bristol have since pulled a Tribune-Review, expunging from the story any reference to Carter.
A league source tells us that the Bears have not signed Carter, and that nothing is imminent.
This is from PFT, for what its worth.
he was a good back up, but this doesnt suprise me, or outrageously bother me. just another defensive change about this year. lol. such is life. we will probably get a safety now on draft day.
