    Steelers interview UFA Linebacker

    Steelers interview linebacker
    Tuesday, March 20, 2007

    By Ed Bouchette, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

The Steelers continue to look for help at outside linebacker when they interviewed Rocky Boiman at their training facility on the South Side today.

Boiman is an unrestricted free agent from the Super Bowl champion Indianapolis Colts. He served mostly as a backup and special teams player with the colts after having previously started for the Tennessee Titans.
Would be interesting to have another "Rocky" on our sidelines!

Boiman is the guy who intercepted Maddox and returned it 60 yds for a TD a couple of seasons ago.

Sux when you release your best LB and then have to scramble to find more help, but we don't need to go there again

Not that this guy would actually start for us but he'd be a decent backup along with Arnold Harrison.

The 6-4, 245-pound Boiman spent the first four seasons of his NFL career with the Tennessee Titans, making a handful of starts. His best season came in 2003, when he recorded 45 tackles, 1.5 sacks and two interceptions.

It would have been a bigger problem to keep him and pay the salary. Keep Porter lose 3 other starters and then we are really scrambling.
I'm not saying I don't like Porter. Just think it was the smart thing to do for the team as a whole this year and the next couple years.
