    Finish Heinz Field ?

    Interesting blog article here..

    http://ironcity.blogspot.com/2007/03...new-arena.html

I don't agree with his points about Heinz not needing to be pleasing to the eye because I think that's pretty important however I can see his point about adding some more seats to the place and I wonder why they didn't make it a 70,000 seat stadium to begin with?

I like the way the stadium is set up overall, and the winds coming in off the Rivers make it difficult for teams to come in and be successful in the kicking game which is a plus for us.

and a negative for us, there is no home field advantage there, cause we can't even do that great in it when it comes to kicking, it might be because we have a bum for a kicker but still, it doesn't help us more then the other team..........

    Still don't like the turf.

Our slippery field hurts everybody that plays on it. Cold is a home field advantage for those who are acclimated to it. A slippery field is not an advantage for either team and in fact levels the playing field if you have the slightly faster team. I can't count how many times I have seen Fast Willie slip on that field when he is making his cuts. At least both teams have to endure the conditions but you would think we could have at least figured out the proper cleats to wear by now that might give us an advantage.

    Damn !!

When Jeff first got here, he was a beast and had Heinz figured out pretty quickly, something that our previous kicker Kris Brown couldnt do, but Jeff was definitely in a funk that he needs to work out.

I do kind of like the fact that the open end makes it hard to kick field goals, and I do think Jeff Reed tends to be better at it than most opposing kickers, I would support adding more seats to close it up IF it meant the stadium would be louder. Extreme crowd noise is more of an advantage, IMO, than crazy kicking conditions.

Heinz Field playing surface is an embarassment to the city and the league. Cowher always said it wouldn't be changed to FieldTurf as long as he is the coach ....

    Guess what? ....

Looks like it's time for Field Turf!

They need to do something with the field because the kicking game hasn't really been a real home field advantage to us. If we still had The Bus I might say we have something but we don't. We have Willie and that field doesn't help his game.

They better go Field Turf!!! I wonder if the Rooneys would now consider it.

    This guy is an idiot!!
Heinz Field is only going into its 7th season and he wants to do an upgrade??
Close in the open end and add seats to bring in additional revenue??

I think the Rooney's built Heinz Field to the perfect capacity.
Even if the Steelers cleared some room on the Season Ticket Waiting list I don't think they'd come even close to filling 70,000 seats on a consistant basis.
The more seats that are added obviously increases the chances of "no-shows" and more people pimping their tickets on Stub-Hub and Ebay.
