My good friend is a Bears fan he isn't to happy about this.
I know the Bears are notorious "Cheapskates" but I don't feel sorry for Briggs.
Chicago offered him a contract last year in excess of $33 Million and Lance said no.
IMO I think the franchise tag is a slap in the face... It's like "Hey we are going to tag you for a year because you might suck and that way we aren't getting to stuck to a long term deal with you! Then maybe after next year we'll see what we can do!" That's just my opinion though![]()
He better ****ing play, hes on my dynasty team.
"Give me a 6 pack, half hour of rest and lets go play them again....We can beat them."

"They say that when you're the champs, everybody will try to beat you. Well, I'm glad we're the champs, so bring 'em on, bring 'em all on. If we die, we ain't gonna die running. It's gonna be a fight."
--Joe Greene
Franchise tag for a LB is......7.206 million.

7.2 mil isnt exactly a slap in the face, the only reason the bears franchised him was so they could get compensation for him, they new he wouldnt stick around
Give him to the steelers
The Bears are retarded. They went to the Super Bowl, and then they started ****ing around with their coaches and players, not wanting to pay anybody to keep them.
Trade Briggs to the Steelers! I'm sure he'll be happy to not have to bail his QB out all the time.
this is what briggs told fox 45 minutes ago via cell phone
"I am now prepared to sit out the year if the Bears don't trade me or release me," Briggs told FOXSports.com via cell phone Monday. "I've played my last snap for them. I'll never play another down for Chicago again."
Briggs was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent earlier this month but the Bears slapped him with the Franchise tag, which pretty much keeps him as their property for next season at a one-year salary of $7.2 million.
Briggs insists he will not play for a team that will use him for a year and see if he can hold up again rather than reward his two Pro Bowls with a long-term deal.
"People think I can't afford to sit out the year, I can take out loans to get me through that year just fine because eventually I'll have a deal somewhere," he said. "There are things I can do to make sure I'm fine financially if I sit out.
"I can also decide what other course of action I can take as the season gets closer. The Bears have shown I'm not in their long-term plans so if that's the case, I don't want to be here."
