Just heard it confirmed that the Chargers have hired Rivera as their linebackers coach.

That is a pretty dramatic swing for Rivera in such a short period of time.
He goes from a DC on a Superbowl team who is a head coach candidate for several teams back to a lowly positions coach in a matter of a few weeks.

That is a huge step down and almost takes him out of the lime light IMO It's still pretty messed up of the Bears to not resign him. It's not his fault teams wanted to talk to him the day after the Super Bowl I would have been on the first flight too!

poor guy. I feel bad for him because his teams success this year could have had something to do with him not getting hired as a HC this season. I'm sure he will get his time though.

The bears need to realize that coordinators get HC jobs all the time, that's why they move up the ranks on teams, to get a chance to be an HC. You can't keep somebody handcuffed to a team forever and then "take your toys and go home" when they want to move on.

look at all the Coordinators we have gone through and let our guys interview for their ultimate jobs. Esp. when you have success...you tend to lose those guys sooner or later and you have to understand that teams are going to want to interview these guys for Head Coaching Vacancies and it doens't make them unloyal...they are trying to reach the ultimate goal in coaching and land a HC position.
