2014 Draft Talk 2

Alright since NeilPatrickBannana and TarlsQtr have decided to use the other 2014 draft thread to play out Draft Day over the internet, I figured we should start one for the rest of us.

What's the latest belief on the first two rounds? Dendard's a name the post Gazette writers keep throwing around. Would be nice to get a plug in and play corner. Think he's a.) good value at that pick? And b.) capable of jumping in immediately? Also who are other names you would like at that spot/why?

Dennard is said to be slipping down draft boards, how much of that is b.s., I do not know. I'd be happy with the pick or pretty much any pick that wouldn't be OL or a reach for a "big" wr

Heres two slated for later rounds....

    Tavita Woodward, DL, Hawaii

Woodward (6-foot-3 3/8, 250 pounds) is a defensive lineman, but his best chance to make it in the NFL is as a 3-4 linebacker. He worked out at Hawaii's pro day in Carson, Calif., and ran the 40 in 4.70 seconds.

    Walt Aikens, DB, Liberty

There were 20-plus teams at Liberty's pro day, and they were all there to get a better look at Aikens (6-foot 5/8, 203 pounds). He's got the size everyone is looking for at corner and has pretty good speed, running the 40 in 4.49 seconds. I think he's got a good chance to be drafted in the third day.

Dennard is the best corner in the draft... I've been saying it for months... I've had him in my top 10 for months...
here's a great look at some advanced metrics, if you need convincing, this should cover it.

Dennard is THE shutdown corner in this draft.

What teams would be looking at him ahead of us? I hope Detroit doesn't take him first

    Re: 2014 Draft Talk 2

This article is from last year. After hearing Head Nfl scout Dave Te Thomas heap glowing praise upon Dennard , I dug up this old article.

This Scout works for 27 of 32 teams if they listen to his opinion , I'm sorry to say Dennard probably won't be there. The last Db to allow less than 1 yard per pass attempt was Deon. So much smoke , I really don't feel Dennard is falling. I think teams want him to fall. He could go to Minnesota at 8.
Steelers have done their homework on CBs.

If the Steelers are set on a CB in the first and Dennard/Gilbert are both gone. Look for them to trade back and select Kyle Fuller.

Fuller will thrive in our zone system, and he can play some man.

    Re: 2014 Draft Talk 2

With the great depth at WR , I'd prefer the Steelers go Def in round 1 and follow it up with a WR in 2 .
I really like Allen Robinson or J. Matthews.

Here's Head Nfl scout profile of Matthews .
