Love him or hate him, I like what Colbert had to say about it...

“I think there's a possibility we could be more active in the free agency market this year,” Colbert said on Wednesday. “Not only from an availability standpoint or from a depth-requirement standpoint, but also from a cap situation that we haven't been able to do those types of things in the past because, quite honestly, we had more work to do just to get into compliance.”

He's saying all the right things. It's what he DOES that matters.

Without a doubt, but it's nice to hear them express the option of playing a bigger role in FA, not only for weapons, but for depth as well

Sorry but I feel the way Neil feels. Colbert is saying what we want to hear right now. We just got an additional 7 mill and I don't believe Colbert is really going to do something significant in free agency.

That's not exactly true. They use free agency in a very controlled manner. This past year, they brought in Gay, Allen and Velasco (though Velasco was a reaction to Pouncey's injury, it was a very good move). In the past, they brought in Ryan Clark and James Farrior that were huge contributors.

You are right, of course, that we HAVE used free agency. We do it the right way, filling holes on the cheap.

    Neil was being sarcastic. :-)

You do not feel the way I feel. My post was making fun of you and the people who share your dopey viewpoint.

I hear ya. But as of late, free agency moves (in general) haven't been that significant. I look forward to the draft because that's where I think we do damage. Maybe Colbert will pleasantly surprise us; but I doubt it.
