    Jets looking at Sanders

Jets want Maclin provided Maclin's surgically repaired knee checks out, the Jets view him as a "quality No. 1 receiver." Sanders would be a decent second fiddle, and the Steelers have 2013 third-round draft pick Markus Wheaton ready to step in and take his place.

I have no problem letting sanders go. Never thought he was that good.

Why not? We drafted him in the third for a reason.

so it would make sense that it is wheaton and cotch now battling for 2014.

im surprised to read that maclin and sanders are par for the jets in the FA market...

Santonio is available now too... Dont tell Tomlin.

Well, we will see about Wheaton, didnt show much of anything last season with a total of 6 catches and you can't throw it to hard for him, or else his finger might break

Regardless of where we drafted him, he has done little to earn a starting job let alone take over for Sanders. Sanders wasn't great but Wheaton couldn't even get on the field.

Wheaton was handicapped. He could not work with the team in minicamp/OTAs because of his school schedule. He was then injured and had vets ahead of him. IMO, it is not fair to judge Wheaton one way or the other based upon last season. We should find out what we have this year.

My main point was that all teams in the salary cap era have to count on kids stepping up when needed. The success of any team depends on the success of moves like this (taking Sanders' spot). We drafted him in the third to do just that.
