Bottom line is Clowney is NOT what we need. And no defensive player...that I can remember was ever taken # 1 overall was a Franchise player...Name one that was ? Clowney might be a good player. But he is NOT a need player for us. He is not a 3-4 DE, and we don't need a OLB do we ? So even discussing him is useless.

Matthews MIGHT end up being in the top-10...but he is overrated IMHO. The other two are NOT top-10...not even close. The Michigan Tackle is in the 15 range at best. And the Alabama kid Cyrus Kouandjio is not even close to a top-20 pick. He's ALL Hype based just on the fact that he plays for Bama. He gets beat constantly.

You don't watch much college football

(Cyrus has been beaten for 3.5 sacks in 22 games)

Here is what you stated previously (your emphasis):
Right now there is NO OL considered a top-10 pick.
No one cares what YOU think and you did not limit your statement at "considered" by you.

Three separate 2014 draft analyses have all three of those linemen in the top 10. Just admit it. You are wrong just as you are wrong about "no one considering Clowney a top 5 pick."

If we have to endure a horrendous season... getting Clowney would be worth it

It's never gonna happen cause the Steelers Brass will NEVER pay top-3 money to ANY NFL Rookie. They never have. Not in the modern era. So, even IF the Steelers end up drafting top-3...and they won't. But even if they do, their management will NEVER ever draft there. And you are deluding yourself if you think they will...no matter WHO is there. They will trade down, and then justify it by saying..." We needed more draft picks "...but in our case right now...that IS true. We have NO 3rd round picks at all. And we need at least 4 SOLID college players in the top-60 this next draft. 2-OL, 1-CB and 1-WR in my opinion.

there's a rookie wage scale now

If they have a top 3 pick, and Clowney is on the board, you can bet your life they will draft him. the only way they'd pass on him, is if they did something crazy like Trade Big Ben, and draft Bridgewater/Boyd

we will get a 3rd round compensatory pick for Mike Wallace, and probably a 4th or 5th round compensatory pick for Keenan Lewis

we should trade anyone with any trade value and rebuid....what could we get for Troy, big Ben, Woodley, timmons.....though the latter 2 are iffy....we wont win more than 4 games the nest 2 years anyway ....lets officially rebuild and get picks with whatever we have left...Troy is still a good player , big ben not a true ppcket passer but great trade value.....lets start over knowing we aren't good even with these good plyers we still are 3 yrs away from a possible playoff spot

if these guys aren't good enough to win more than 4 games over 2 seasons.... then why would other teams trade valuable draft picks for them?
