    Final Wide Receiver Spot

I am sure you've all heard by down Plax is most likely done for the year (if not career). The Steelers keep five WRs, who gets the final spot: Justin Brown, Derek Moye, David Gilreath? Do they sign a veteran? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

I think they will keep only 5.

AB, Sanders, Cotch, Wheaton, Justin Brown or Gilreath.

Not sure which of the last two. NPB has also mentioned JD Woods (who I have not previously considered) and if he thinks he has a chance, he probably does. He watches that stuff a lot more closely than I do.

Yeah I edited it realizing they are only going to keep five instead of six. That was my bad.

AB, Sanders, Cotchery, Wheaton are locks
JD Woods is my sleeper for the #5 spot (it's either him our Justin Brown)

They could keep 6 if they keep Reggie Dunn as a return specialist

The thing i like about Woods, and the reason I think he has an immediate future.... he catches the ball in traffic so well. He's got some Hines Ward nastiness to him. He's a guy that will go over the middle and take a licking. He doesn't have great speed, and he's not a great leaper, but he catches the ball in traffic. We have good young route guys, speed guys, stretch guys... but a good young possession WR who works the inside is missing. He's good very good feet (good route runner), and he has terrific hands, and he has a solid frame...

if you haven't seen his one handed snag and run.... you need to find the video.

More likely, he ends up on the practice squad for a year... but I personally have a very high opinion of him.

Moye is having a great camp and he catches everything, don't be surprised if he sneaks in there. I hope the Steelers find a way to keep these young WR's because of next years situation so at least they have a year under there belt and don't have to spend an early pick in next yrs draft.

They need to keep J D Woods and Justin Brown. J D is the next Hines Ward. Justin is a possession wr. J D comes with
some speed. If they loose Sanders then we wouldn't miss a beat keeping these two.

Based on what exactly? All of this is absurd considering its very possible neither will be on the active roster

Well, Brown is having a good camp, and he's shown good, soft hands. They seem to like him because he's a physical receiver which is a different trait then the other WR we have. He'll have a chance to return punts so if he can do that, he'll probably be the one to stick. He's listed as a punt returner on the depth charts so we'll see.
The Steeler way...is the only way.
