he was definitely going to be a big part of the offense from a blocking perspective.... it's going to be really hard to run those stretch zone plays without a TE like Spaeth

those who get it, get it...

I wouldn't be surprised if Kevin Boss was signed shortly

    Spaeth injured

Jones also showed good power and feet while going one-on-one against tight end Matt Spaeth in a tight ends backer drill - before Spaeth was carted off after aggravating his previous knee injury.

With Heath Miller still on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list after undergoing ACL surgery, and Spaeth injured in practice on Wednesday, second-year tight end David Paulson is getting a lot more snaps, allowing him to continue to learn.

“More reps give you more opportunity to get better,” said Paulson. “That is giving me more chances to improve and learn. Every down I am in there is another opportunity to learn.”

Paulson said he has grown a lot since his rookie year, with being more comfortable in the offense the biggest advantage in year two.

“Being able to go out and play instead of trying to think through things on every play is big,” said Paulson. “I can go out and react and not be thinking through things so I can play full speed. Understanding the offense, the concept, and how I fit into it helps a lot.”

I know. But I really like the new guys... and Paulson's quote...

More reps give you more opportunity to get better,” said Paulson.

Worilds and Heyward needed some reps earlier in their careers also. to much sideline time...

    Reps are earned, not given.

The criticism of LeBeau we hear about youth not playing is mostly misguided. Jones is going to get significant playing time. So will Shamarko. His philosophy has not changed. It is just these players showing that they are ready to be given some responsibility because of their hard work and skill. This shows up in practice.

If Worilds and Heyward had shown in practice that they were ready to get more reps earlier, they would have received them. Instead, they gave those reps to the better players at the time.
