Who said anything about "taking lesser teams lightly?". What I said was IF your going to give rookies a chance to play, I'd rather do it against the Titans as opposed to opening up against the Texans, Ravens or Patriots per say.

Stop putting words in people's mouth.

rookies should play when they are ready... not when the schedule permits

    Dumb

Rookie mistakes will lose you games, regardless of opponent.

throwing rookies into the fire is a ridiculous strategy though, especially when you can see how the progress in practice and limited reps during games as the season goes on if you want to work them in an increased role

Here is a novel idea. Let's play those who are the BEST PLAYERS AVAILABLE on any given gameday.

This "Let's play them against the Titans because they suck" stuff is crap. If Worilds is more prepared to play the Titans, play him. If Jones is, play Jones. The same goes for Dwyer/Redman/Bell, Troy/Clark/Thomas, etc. When and if the rookies become more prepared and qualified than their veteran counterparts during the season, THEN play them regardless of the opponent.

    K-Train

That was based on the rookies showing well in preseason and practice. That goes without saying.

Bell has to start by default doesn't he? Unless someone shows something we haven't seen before. And I don't think that at this point.
