Steelers Expected to Extend Roethlisberger next offseason

    http://theredzone.org/BlogDescriptio...n/Default.aspx

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is scheduled to receive $11.6 million this year ($9 million in a bonus as part of a restructured contract), which will give him $76.5 million from an eight-year, $102 million deal that he signed in March 2008, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.

Roethlisberger is in line for a contract extension after this season because his salary-cap number will be around $18 million and restructuring his contract this time won't free up much cap room. Plus, an extension would probably guarantee the 31-year-old Roethlisberger finishing his career with the Steelers.

No surprise. Ben will get his $100+ mil contract he deserves to finish his career here, and Crash will have significantly less garbage to spew.

Remember how he wasn't going to be a Steeler in 2013? I do...

Re: Steelers Expected to Extend Roethlisberger this offseason

He deserves his contract, but it won't be this off-season, it will be next summer. That is when he has 2 years left on his contract. There is no reason to do it this year, we are 4.4 million under the cap.

Okay. Ben will be secure. Can Crash now calm down and go back on his meds?

They were ALWAYS going to do what they could to sign Ben (absent a huge injury, another off-season problem, etc.) and only an ignorant few (one) thought otherwise.

I have been watching the waiver wire everyday since that statement. lol

People say stupid things on here every single day that are forgotten. The key is to not say something SO STUPID that it is impossible to forget. I remember that... (Another being that the Steelers were playing "prevent" when Fitz burned us in the 4th quarter of the SB.)
