I thought they could have used him as a backup center on the roster. They need a lot more depth on the oline. I am excited about Gilbert, Foster, Pouncey, Decastro, and Adams to start the season and think Beachum could be a solid backup with plenty of versatility but I dont think they have anyone who is proven behind those six. Malecki may have something but he is unproven. Golic Jr. may be decent but I think he needs time to develop into a new position on the practice squad before he is ready to start the season on the roster. I am worried if they have to use Whimper and they probably will as injuries are common on the offensive line. I would like to see them at least sign Andre Caldwell now that they have cap room.

Don't understand the hatred for this guy. He was a good guy and played a very good back up center (a position we don't have a back up at right now.) Definitely held his own in the SB when Pouncey was out.

Agree. He's not a starter but he's a quality back up. Wish him the best.

neither of them in the same realm of **** as hartwig or mahan

both of which wish they were anywhere close to as serviceable as legs or stapleton or jonathan scott (who is the worst LT ive seen play for the steelers in my lifetime)...but thats how bad mahan and hartwig were

Agreed. I was so happy when we got Mahan out of there for Hartwig. My happiness didn't last long. I remember I was out to eat when I heard we signed Hartwig. At first I thought we had signed Nick Hardwick. Imagine my disappointment lol.
