Bell will be the #1 back this season.. Dwyer has time to get in shape!

Dwyer (to me) has proven he's not mature. Bottom line. He has no real pride. Because a smart man would have gotten in shape and be in position to battle Bell for the position.
The Steeler way...is the only way.

I am fine with Bell, let Redman be the short yardage specialist, and Howling will surprise.

Good riddance to Dwyer. We couldn't even get a 7th round pick for him at the draft.

We can pull someone from the waiver wire better than Dwyer (at least more dedicated).

dumb to write off players who take a few years to break in to the NFL... if you want to write him off, give me some real analysis as to why. tell me you don't think he has the feet, or his vision is terrible, or he's to slow to the hole... don't give me the lazy statistics approach.

If his measurables look like a good zone runner, and we are moving to a zone scheme... what does his lack of production in a Man scheme matter?

We are changing schemes, and we have a bunch of relatively young RBs who we need to PROJECT into a new scheme. Baron projects well, Dwyer doesn't...

i know that judging a player coming off an ACL tear, in a man scheme.... and using that judgement to project him as a healthy back in a zone scheme... is also dumb.

There is not even one thing i can think of that baron batch can do that LSH cant do significantly better (except blog), better enough to make his age not matter (3rd down back, so it doesnt matter much anyway).

I get it, hes explosive in his long jump and vert and ran a good time....i feel like hes not a player thats going to get better though, hes a what you see is what you get caliber of player. I know he didnt run much at TT in that offense, but he did enough and he was a 7th round pick for a reason despite his dazzling workout numbers. I have very little faith in any back on the roster right now (bell, redman, dwyer, LSH, and batch...jesus the mediocrity is so underwhelming its overwhelming....), but baron batch is easily towards the bottom.

    Starter : Bell
    3rd down : LSH

the camp battle will be whether they carry 3 or 4 RBs on the 53.

Redman's case : Can backup the starter... bonus = excellent short yardage back
Batch's case : Can back up both the Starter and the 3rd down back
Dwyer's case : Can backup the Starter only

If one of the practice squad eligible backs shows enough that they are confident they can keep the #4 back on the PS... then Batch makes the most sense to keep as the Backup up to both the starter and the 3rd down back. If they keep 4 backs... then only 1 of Dwyer, Redman, Batch gets cut... and it's still likely to be Dwyer

Add in the fact that Batch is a good special teams guy... and it's case closed... he has a much better chance at a roster spot than Dough Dwyer

Batch's case : Can back up both the Starter and the 3rd down back?????? 49 yards.

Dwyers lead the group with 730 yards...

He needs to man up, but batch is not the answer.

Batch is the answer to, "who can be a versatile backup #3 RB, contribute on special teams, and allow the team to only carry 3 RBs on the active roster"?

Dwyer is the answer to, "which RB can we carry, not use on 3rd downs, not contribute on special teams, and force us to carry an extra back because of it"

Dwyer is gone... the only question is whether we carry both Redman and Batch, or only 1 of them.... or if a camp body / practice squad type, makes a run at a roster spot changing up the competition

(barring any other signings changing the picture)

Whatever Lombardi, and really your act is old......You sit behind a computer screen and post on a message board just like me and the rest of the people here on SA so if you don't agree with me then put me on ignore but don't start **** with me cause I have a different opinion then you.....

Even if Batch is fully healthy and switching to a zone scheme then I seriously doubt we have the next Arian Foster on our roster......As for Batch contributing on special teams and things of that nature then those type of RB's are a dime a dozen......What I have seen of Batch there is nothing that wows me about him and I wouldn't be shocked if one of the undrafted RB's pushed him off the roster.......I go by what I see from the games and just have never been really impressed with Baron Batch and RB's like him are a dime a dozen.........
