    New Sean Spence News

Can Sean Spence make it back from the catastrophe knee injury he suffered last preseason?

Opinions vary, even in his own building. Spence's position coach, Keith Butler, has said it would be "miraculous" if the linebacker played a down in 2013. Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin didn't agree with that assessment, and neither does Spence.

"I know a lot of people have not been able to come back after damage like that, but I'm going to see if I can be one of the only ones," Spence said, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "Actually, I know that I'm going to beat the odds. I'm not really worried about that."

Spence is in attendance at Steelers organized team activities, but only as a spectator. He's doing his best to soak in the schemes of defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau, even if he's forced to do it from a distance. He said the nerve damage in his knee slowly is healing.

"I'm going to continue to attack this like I'm going to play this year," Spence said. "I'm in meeting and preparing as if I'm practicing. I'm just going to continue to get better and I'm looking forward to the season."

Spence once was viewed as the Steelers' successor to James Farrior at inside linebacker. Now he's one of the biggest underdogs in the game. Things can change in an instant in the NFL.

Read an article today where he said he can run and sees himself playing this year. Huge news.

only the team knows how bad his knee really is so let's not get too excited i think he will recover fully but this year would be too soon 2014 is more likely plus as much as we all are pulling for him with the spector of williams looming in the middle he would be expendable if williams excels

I believe he can make it back but also think 2014 is more realistic. The NFL does not wait for people nor do they take pity on anyone. You need to be ready to go and a knee injury is pretty huge.

Go Sean Spence....I'm cheering for you!!

The damage to the peroneal nerve is the concerning thing about his injury. Even though Lattimore also had a devastating knee injury, he apparently had no nerve damage. I am really rooting for this kid to succeed.

I think it would be better to sit and rehab more for another year
