He got the lowest tender, so all the Steelers would get is right to match. Since he was UDFA there would be no pick as compensation

It's good to be back!
Would be a bummer to see him go!
They have no choice but to match if the Packers offer.
He's a good player and the starting NT. They need him.
NOW IT IS COMING APART A BIT IF HE LEAVES WE ARE LEFT WITH A DRUNK AND AND WALKING HEARTATTACK IN FANGUPO
How the hell do the packers have any $$. They just signed Matthews to $13 mill a year and they have Rodgers coming up at $25 mill a year. That is $38 mill in 2 guys. I can't see them offering McClendon say $2 mill a year when he hasn't played a year yet!
If they did we have to match it. I'd like to get Keisel to take a couple million pay cut
that would suck.
right now i can comfortably say NT is a need but its wayyyyyy down the list. I do think between mcclendon, woods, fangupu, and taamu theres a legit starting NT in there, but mcclendon has showed the most thus far and losing him would put reasonable doubt in the group and probably put jenkins, hankings, or williams higher on their board...not that any of them are bad players i just think theres way bigger needs than NT and id like to keep it that way
packer have a lot of money because ted thompson is really cheap...matthews and rodgers are the exception, but not many big money players on that roster
IMO this is the worst managed offseason start in a long time. I sure hope he stays and we have a solid draft if not it could be a very long season!

McLendon visits Packers
Restricted free agent nose tackle Steve McLendon visited the Packers on Wednesday, a move that likely sent shock waves through Pittsburgh's front office.
The Steelers tendered McLendon, who is expected to move into the starting lineup this season, at $1.3 million and have the right to match any offer he might receive as a free agent. But they would receive no compensation if he signs elsewhere and they decline to match.
The Packers have plenty of cap space, even after signing Clay Matthews Wednesday, and the Steelers are only about $700,000 under the cap.
If McLendon signs with Green Bay, the Steelers could turn back to Casey Hampton for another season at the nose - though Hampton made it apparent he's not interested in coming back for a bargain deal.
On the plus side, if McLendon goes off their books, the Steelers would be $2 million under the cap once again.

Could we let him bounce and go after Star, Hankins, Sheldon or Flyod?
