How soon do we go CB, and with whom?

I really don't know how comfortable the brass feels with our CB depth. I am thinking they will likely draft one. I think the top 3 will go, maybe even before our first pick. Millner will go top 6. Rhodes by top 12. Trufant top 20. (He is on the skinny side and Pgh won't take a CB who they don't think is a solid tackler.)

It doesn't matter what will happen with the top guys because I don't see them going CB that early. McGee from Miami has been a disappointment in college - he was the #1 CB coming out of high school. But he did shine in the Shrine bowl, and he is a sub 4.3 40, so maybe he is a late bloomer. Maybe worth taking in the 4th. I don't think the Steelers will be interested in the Honey Badger.

The fact that they signed Gay means they probably don't want to go CB too soon. We so need RB, O-line, WR, LB, back up QB, TE....NT maybe.....man, we got lots of needs.

Maybe in the 6th or 7th round if they really see some value left on the board. More likely none drafted in this draft. Not a big need.

So, who we got? Ike, Allen, Gay.......don't say Brown, he is horrible. Who can play outside if Ike or Allen go down? Not Gay.

This is why I'm still upset about letting Lewis go. For years the secondary has been the weakness in the defense. It finally becomes a strength and they decide to let a young talented CB that was part of that success go elsewhere for a contract that they could have afforded to pay him.

CB in fourth on down. Too many other pressing needs.

no there is not more pressing needs ... OLB does not need to be addressed , and RB can be addressed with a later pick , there is plenty of depth at the RB position this year... and Gay as a nickle is a bigggggg weakness in my eyes ... I say 3rd round CB is picked and here are my 3 guesses for that round ...

1 - Tyrann Mathieu If he's still there you won't get a better play maker than him... he will take Gays Nickle spot from day 1 , and that is a great improvement to the defense , as nickle backs are more like 3 down players now adays ... not to mention he is a great return man and all around special teams player

2 - Logan Ryan the guy just plays like a Steeler , the best run suport CB in this draft, in my eyes ... and good Cover skills too , not the most ahtletic guy though, but I think he fits the team an organization well

3 - Jordan Poyer is a guy I love his cover skills , not really a press guy , but a good man coverage and would be perfect for a nickel DB , and one of the better ball skills DB

also a later round guy I love for a press man and run coverage is Sanders Commings , but he has a demostic voilence in college so you can scratch him off the list , damn Rainey ... I think he fits perfect though , Commings and Cortez would be a good young press man outside Corners

    Just my take

LB ans Safety, plus RB and WR are more pressing than CB. One could also argue TE before CB.

Im a huge fan of Amerson. Hes seriously perfect for our defense at CB and FS

I would think Rhodes would get serious consideration in the first if hes there

I don't know how you pass on Rhodes if he's there.
