Taking Tyler Bray, QB, in the 2nd round?

They already addressed it. Spending a high choice on Bray with all these other critical needs is a complete waste of a pick.

The biggest need is keeping Ben healthy or getting a quality back up if they can't achieve the first need. You fix the gaping hole in your boat first before worrying about the minor ones. I believe this team could have gone deep in the playoffs the last two seasons and only two reason they didn't. 1.They couldn't keep Ben healthy. 2. they didn't have a quality back up and it's that simple.

With the draft coming up they have a two choices to address this issue. The first one is draft the best guard available at 17 and I also would bring Starts back. If they do not chose that option then Bray in the 2nd is a must IMO.

Exactly. And the gaping holes are lack of skill positions, lack of a pass rush and the impending loss of both safeties, not back up QB (or OL.)

Funny, exactly how I feel everytime you say draft a back up QB in the 2nd round. We're missing our top RB, our top TE and one of our top WRs, two safeties are very old and won't be around very long, our pass rush has sucked for 2 years, we just let one of our OLBs go and our franchise QB has 3-4 years left, and you want to waste a high draft pick on a back up QB who won't be ready to do anything this year anyway.

Ben not being healthy made both season to become poor.Yes that has everything to do with a offense line not protecting him and not having a valuable back up. The defense played pretty good last season and specially toward the end. Ben is the difference maker like Brady is to New England.

using a 3rd round pick on an insurance to the most important position isnt gonna put the team in the gutter...id argue its better than spending it on a player the caliber of bruce davis, trai essex, sean spence, keenan lewis, jason worilds or some other 2nd or 3rd round bums weve drafted...theyve come such a long way

Id love taking bray or put lattimore on the shelf in the 3rd round...3rd and 4th round is where you can take risks like that

Obviously one third round pick (wait, when did it become a 3rd round? It was just a 2nd round. Anyway. . .) no, one third round pick isn't going to fix all that. But you know what, it will contribute far more to fixing those problems than a back up QB would, that's for sure.

our top TE (100% accurate)
and one of our top WRs (100% accurate)

we just let one of our OLBs (100% accurate)
go and our franchise QB has 3-4 years left (perhaps more opinion than fact, but likely true.)

There are glaring holes everywhere. Don't act like we're San Fran deep and young and have no major needs and can afford to draft only for depth at a position like back up QB or take a shot with fairly high on a RB that's been injured and could potentially miss the year. We were 8-8 last year, and could very well be worse this year. That's the reality we face.

If two #1s and two #2s didn't already fix the OL, then why would a third #1 fix it? The OL is already fixed, they need to stay healthy sure, but Ben was having a fantastic season before he was injured. Take away three of the top offensive threats and you an add all the OL you want and that offense is still going to struggle.

The only way we draft a QB in the first 3 rounds this year is if we have no plans on extending Ben for $15 mill a year.
