Can we finally just admit it...?

Ever since Dan went to Ireland, things have gone downhill for the Steelers. Before that, even though Art "owned" the team, Dan was still there to look over his shoulder and offer guidance. Now the Steelers are keeping vets past their primes because they wish to cling to past glory, while young players walk away. It has also created cap hell which eventually the Steelers will have to pay for.

So unless Keven Colbert and Omar Khan suddenly woke up stupid one day, can we finally just admit that Art is a lousy owner compared to his father?

Its not looking good... One thing to remember.. The Bengals and the Browns are loaded with young talent. A product of sucking for years and picking tons of top picks.. the ravens and steelers may realize that the only way to compete with this is to go young fast and jettison the "average" players and try to power up positions from there. we may have a rough year.. the ravens will for sure. you just cant rebound from an exodus like that in 6 months.

Hiring Tomlin didn't help matters either. We tried to hide the fact that he is worthless by trying to keep Cowher's Super Bowl team around as long as we could. The rubber has now meet the road and we are in trouble.

As I have been saying for 2 years Tomlin is NOT a good Head Coach everyone said he won a SB and played in a second one....As I kept saying those were Bill Cowher Teams last season the team was predominately Tomlins players....results were as expected...now the Steelers are dumping the last of the Cowher players save one or two.....Expect a rocky road for a while.....Tomlin and Cobert will be gone in two seasons and the Rebuilding will really take shape......My brother said after the Denver Playoff Loss "we just witnessed the Francisco Cabrera of the Pittsburgh Steelers"....I laughed at him....NOW....not so much....... Tomlin has lost the team and will not be able to get it back......."Fransisco Cabrera"....hmmmm

The Steelers won't "eventually" have to pay for it, that's exactly what they're doing now. The created the "cap hell" by holding keeping the Super Bowl team intact as long as they could, to try to win more championships while they had the team they knew could do it. It was the right call. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, one could argue that it was stupd because they hadn't won it since 08. They still made it to the SB just two years ago. It was the right move. They held on as long as they could and now they're paying for it (cutting Harrison, losing Wallace, Lewis, Mendenhall, potentially Sanders).

People are blowing all this so astronomically out if proportion. We'll be fine.

That's the kind of thinking that got the Steelers into this mess.

The Steelers organization, I fear, is close to becoming a joke. Art simply cannot get his head out of the 70's. He still thinks the league is about running and defense. It's not. It's about scoring points fast. When the Steelers stop fighting that and embrace it, they'll be contenders again.

I feel that the powers that be believe as long as we have a great QB, a competitive team can be fielded. It will never be a great team, but with a lot of luck we are a playoff team and in the playoffs all bets are off. Look at the two past wins we had in the Super Bowls. We should have lost both, but we got lucky on calls and splash plays. I think this year they are banking on the offensive line playing gangbusters and a more ball control game which means a heavy duty running game. We haven't had a line that blocked for our running backs in a long time. I think Mendenhall would have been a great running back if anybody had created holes for him.

And people need to realize that Tomlin isn't going anywhere. The Steelers aren't like the bottom feeders of the NFL that change head coaches every year. Especially one who's won a SB and been to another. The Steelers didn't win a playoff game 7/15 years Cowher was head coach. The Steelers only won more than one playoff game in 2 seasons during his tenure. 1998-2000 the Steelers didn't win a playoff game and two of those years straight (1998 and 1999 were losing seasons 7-9 and 6-10 respectively).

Tomlin is still only 41. I know you don't want to hear this, but Tomlin is going to be around for a while.
