Did Steelers over pay for Brown?

If you look at the stats... I hadn't realized it took Brown 3 years to get 7 TDS. Wallace had 32 TDS with one more year in his career. Brown is good, but not sure if he was worth all that money.

2 career receiving TDs when he received his 5 year, $42.5 mil contract extension. One of the many arguments us "Wallace apologists" have been making. He's a very good #2 receiver but they gave him all that money as a big FU to Wallace.

I think Brown got a fair deal. there are a lot of stats to consider, not just TDs. How many third down receptions did he make and keep the chains moving? He didn't have a great year, but none of the receivers did. I think if we would have kept Hines one more year to mentor this group it would have done wonders.

Brown seems like a great kid with a tremendous work ethic. I have no problem with the contract. If you want to know someone who is overpaid see Woodley.

Some of us did......Big T and myself posted constantly about Brown's lack of TD's and how Wallace was very productive in his career.......

Brown is overpaid but so are too many guys in this league. I still feel this salary cap is too low. We have a team of 52 guys and the top players are making $10+ mill a year. How can we not have enough money to hold our own guys? And this is with letting 92 go.

Can someone explain to me how we sign Lewis still and get anyone else signed? Where is the $$ coming from...confused

the Brown contract was fair. It's important to remember that it was really a 6 year deal, not a 5 year deal as commonly referred. It replaced the final year of his rookie deal, so the bonus was spread over 6 years.

7 million per year for a great #2 is not a bad deal at all.

It's also worth mentioning that the Steelers could be sitting very pretty if Brown continues to develop. He's just entering his 4th season, the deal could be a bargain at the mid point of the contract.

Not really on either side of the fence on this but when wallace held out like he did... AB's contract became a big F.U.

Everyone is throwing stats around, but AB hasnt started as many games as Wallace so the stats should be skewed.

Im interested to see how AB does now that he is #1 without a doubt. I wonder if he can achieve similar numbers to last year.

Who would you perfer the Steelers give their money too: A one trick pony that has speed and a case of the drops how placed his desires above the team: And even when he knew was his money was going to be for the year desided to stay out until the last possible minute that hinderd his timing with his QB and had to lean a new offense. Or a hard working, team guy that will do whatever asked to help the team

5 year, $42.5 mil is not exactly first WR money anyway... Its a bit much for a good 2nd, but its not by much in my book. Wallace will get a much much bigger contract somewhere this year. In that discussion, Browns contract really did not matter in regards to Wallace, because he was never ever going to even read the paper that suggested that kind of money.
However much you think you know about football, rest assured that Skip Bayless knows more!
