Exclamation Steelers WR Coach Leaves For OC Job At Duke

I didn't see this posted yet, so I thought I'd share it. Ed Bouchette reported that WR Coach Scottie Montgomery has left the Steelers to become the Offensive Coordinator at Duke, which is his alma mater.

    Here's the article:

So, who do you think Tomlin should hire? Please don't say Hines Ward because that's NOT happening. Do you think it will be someone already in the NFL or someone from the college ranks? I think they need someone that can teach how to get separation from DBs. It seemed like that was a big problem the last few years. Wallace could get separation with his speed, but Brown and Sanders had trouble getting away from defenders on a consistent basis. What say you?

Not a bad idea to bring in some new blood every once in a while.

Seperation wasn't the problem. The problem was Ben's reluctance to throw the ball, then the play broke down, and they just went into scramble. Sadly, they never THOUGHT to do that by design. Ben can turn the ball loose, scramble, get sacked, get intercepted, whatever.
He needs to turn the ball loose because you should know that the called play will break down, and you can't have that.
We need a guy like a run-and-shoot guy to "scramble by design".

Bens reluctance to turn the ball loose not only causes the "called play" to break down, but it is also hard for your linemen to block for you if they have no idea where you are behind them. They don't have eyes on the back of their heads.
