I'd love to have a conversation about how to rank QBs. Maybe if we could come up with an agreed upon method that included both the subjective analysis of talent, along with the objective recognition of production (stats) and accolades (rings, wins, awards) and took into account career (veterans) and potential (young stars).... maybe we could have an honest discussion? We could have a rating system for each category, and an agreed upong weight for those categories?

I'll start a separate thread, and everyone can come there and flame me with there conspiracy theories about my "trolling" and my dual personality as the face of all the trolls (not true, but doesn't bother me).

This will be a thread for discussing QBs, not simply bashing Ben or any other QB.

this was what someone posted on draftcountdown, i like it...i think its a failry accurate representation

    The Breakdown:

    35% 2012 performance
    15% Career performance to date
    10% Projected career performance (trajectory/upside)
8% Raw arm talent (5% accuracy/touch, 3% pure arm strength)
8% Decision-making/ability to read and manipulate coverages
    8% Team success
    8% Intangibles/leadership qualities/making those around him better
3% Mobility within the pocket/scrambling ability
    3% Clutch history
    2% Ability as a runner
2% Durability (I assume every player is healthy for this list)

*When you add everything up together the question that this list answers is this: Which QB would you rather have right now, today, to play one game, assuming full health and ideal circumstances in terms of offense and supporting cast for that player. How much time to prepare, what exactly the made up opponent would be, and if the question is changed to 'for one full season' should not affect the ranking.

    1) Aaron Rodgers
    2) Peyton Manning
    3) Tom Brady
    4) Drew Brees
    5) Ben Roethlisberger
    6) Eli Manning
    7) Joe Flacco
    8) Matt Ryan
    9) Andrew Luck
    10) Colin Kaepernick
    11) Robert Griffin III
    12) Cam Newton
    13) Russell Wilson
    14) Matthew Stafford
    15) Philip Rivers
    16) Jay Cutler
    17) Tony Romo
    18) Matt Schaub
    19) Sam Bradford
    20) Andy Dalton
    21) Josh Freeman
    22) Carson Palmer
    23) Ryan Tannehill
    24) Ryan Fitzpatrick
    25) Michael Vick
    26) Alex Smith
    27) Brandon Weeden
    28) Kevin Kolb
    28) Christian Ponder
    29) Mark Sanchez
    30) Matt Flynn
    31) Matt Moore
    32) Jake Locker
    33) Chad Henne
    34) Ryan Mallett
    35) Nick Foles
    36) Blaine Gabbert
    37) Jamarcus Russell
    38) Tim Tebow

Not a bad list K... Think Brady and Manning would be flip-flopped, but overall a solid snap shot.

I'd take Wilson over Newton because Wilson is much more heady then Newton. And mature.
The Steeler way...is the only way.

    that's great!

I just posted a separate thread with my own perspective, hoping that the board would participate in deciding our own methodology so we could all use that system to do our own rankings and argue/debate under the same guidelines.

I'm assuming that it was a joke to include Russel, just to put him ahead of tbow.... lol that's funny

I also think that list would be very similar to mine... where you have the "super bowl" guys... the next generation, the guys who never got it done, and the less successful vets. those 4 groups in general usually make up the top 20.

I still think brees and manning should be higher...but one thing you did get right is that ben is not a top 10 qb anymore...about time somebody realizes it...but i'm guessing you're not a Steeler fan because they're all in denial

    becasue he won 2 superbowls!!

NOT ! He owns the worst qb rating for a qb in a superbowl ever!!!!

meanwhile flacco has the best playoffs since that other JOE

    top 5
    1.BRADY
    2. RODGERS
    3.BREES
    4.MANNINGS
    5.FLACCO!

    GO PACK GO!
