    Wallace gone
    Mendenhall gone
    Leftwich/Batch gone
    Mundy gone
    B Johnson gone
Harrison - asked to restructure - says no - gone and signs 3 year deal elsewhere
    Sylvestor gone
Starks or Foster - one stays
Lewis - SIGNED (Taylor one more year then we have Lewis/Allen)
    Foote - SIGNED one year
    Hampton gone
    Keisel - takes pay cut
Redman - tendered but other team takes him with no compensation for us
McLendon - SIGNED for 3 years
    Legursky - tendered
Sanders - SIGNED for 3 years

Its gonna be an interesting and sad offseason for the Steeler faithful....next offseason will be worse as we start looking at Troy, Clark, Ike, Keisel

If we get Lewis signed we can take CB off priority list for this year. Gotta look for Safety, WR and LB.....RB can be Dwyer this year and I think we should target Lattimore by Round 4 and he will be our back in 2014

The fact that Colbert didn't even know the rules about when he could release Rainey should cast a large shadow of doubt over his competence for the job, never mind the steady slip in performance from the team for the past 6 years. And don't quote records to me because many of those 12-4 years, like last year, were done with smoke and mirrors and weak schedules.

Colbert knew the rules. Don't be ridiculous. It was a PR move. While the "behavior/incident/alleged crime" was fresh in the public, and the players minds, the release was announced.

Only an Idiot would think a guy with Colbert's tenure wouldn't know the "rules"

The issue I have here is, They need to resign Lewis. Maybe pay a little more than what he should be, but he has proven he can play cb in the nfl.

Swann, Lambert, Stallworth, Webster....I know....Just saying this is a very important draft coming up for the Steelers and really they need to make every pick count....This roster is in need of some young players that can make an impact....

    Colbert hints, changes are coming!

    A QB early??

Steelers don't rule out drafting quarterback early

    By Marc Sessler

Ben Roethlisberger has been a fixture under center for the Pittsburgh Steelers dating back to 2004, but is the team beginning to think ahead?

Coming off a disappointing 8-8 campaign, Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert said Wednesday the team could see a major roster shakeup in the offseason. Colbert's most surprising revelation came at quarterback, where Pittsburgh is open to drafting a passer in the first round for the first time in almost a decade.

"We won't close the door on any position in any round," Colbert told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette . "We can't ... Once we get into free agency and the draft, I don't see any position that's off limits."

It's notable because the Steelers have publicly swatted down the concept of drafting a quarterback in the early rounds ever since Big Ben was chosen 11th overall in 2004. The team has mainly relied on old-as-trees veterans at the position. Roethlisberger has been durable -- and certainly productive -- enough to allow that.

The 30-year-old, two-time Super Bowl winner started 13 games this season, but battled through painful injuries for the second year in a row. Roethlisberger still played at an MVP level for stretches, and Pittsburgh isn't about to uproot him for another, but the team is acknowledging that even their sturdy situation under center can't last forever.

Zero chance of that (IMO). Steelers truly need a quality QB who can back up Ben though.

Wallace is dangerous, but he is gone. Would really like to see the Steelers re-sign Lewis. They need to approach the vets who are not being cut, and have these guys restructure their contracts. Anyone refuses, out you go. There is truly no reason why the Steelers should not be comfortable under the cap and still be competitive in the NFL. They hold on to overpriced talent a little longer than they should and now Colbert feels pressure from Art II so he is reacting accodringly. Steelers didn't go 2-14, but they certainly fell short of expectations.

No chance Steelers go QB in round one. None. Won't happen. Talk about creating a circus.
