These freaks now are basically steroid powered human missles.
Once they make the helmuts more impact resistant with kevlar, the hits will get harder and the accidents will more commonly be snapped necks..
But, what do i know...
on the brightside we won't have to worry about our kick/punt returns get called back because ofstupid holding penaltys(VanDyke) seriously this (he goodell) is a joke.
I am not so sure the type of surface they play on isn't causing a lot of the injuries. Go back to natural grass fields and you'll see the injuries subside.

So you would get the option of having the ball on the 30 and 1 play to make to make it to the 45 and keep the ball or kick off like usual.
It actually would make the game sort of interesting. You put the defense back out there after they recently screwed up and gave up a score. Along with an Offense that would have just scored and are all pumped up.
What are the odds of making a 4th or 3rd and 15 compared to an on side kick that is expected? I'm guessing it would have have to be significantly higher.

From the understanding I have, the team that scores retains possession of the ball on their own 30 and the down is 4th and 15. They can either punt or go for it. There are no more kick-offs if this goes into effect.Originally Posted by LarryNJ

I will admit this could be exciting, maybe implemented in the last minute of a game?

I just can't see this ever happening. Think of how many games have been won or lost on a kickoff (music city miracle, Steelers vs Tennessee while Ben was suspended), no more onside kicks.
Too important of a play, no way this happens.
I think this is exactly what the NFL will look like before long, like it or not.

Really? Well the average punt is what about 50 yards or so? That would mean most would be fielded around the 20. And the average punt return is probably less than 10 yards so I'd guess the average field position would be about the same as the kick off. Although there are probably more punts returned for TD's than kick offs. But I'm not sure how many of them would be from that far back.
It's actually an interesting concept if you think about it. The problem is most people see Godell name and get pissed and nothing else matters.
Punters salary's would go up.
