    Mundy's hit on Heyward-Bey (video)...Update 9/26, Fined $21K

Everyone in Raider land and I'm sure all the Steeler haters will say that Ryan Mundy lead with his head and intentionally went after Darrius Heyward-Bey on that endzone hit. I know we're all mad at how the defense collapsed but that hit was not intentional and the officials were correct in not throwing the flag. Perhaps they must missed it, as they sometimes do but in this case they missed it right if you know what I mean.

It was a monster hit, gave me chills from the good old days..so yeah I thought it was awesome. I'm not glad that Heyward-Bey was taken to the hospital and I do hope he's ok but that's life in the NFL, sometimes it just happens. You lead with your hands, ready to plant yourself into the chest of the receiver and he ducts his head. Ask Harrison how that feels.

I'm sure Lord Goodell will be happy to sign the fax that Mundy gets this week with a hefty fine.

It was the highlight of the day for me, other than the Clark interception. Gave me chills, just like Clark and Polamalu used to do.

    Cool
He was doing his best Ryan Clark impression. I definitely don't think it was intentional at all, but that doesn't mean that he won't get fined a large amount, if nothing else but for the fact that Heyward-Bey was knocked out.

Chances are it didn't draw a flag because these referees could be talked out of their next week's paycheck's, though.

I suppose at the very least, Ryan Mundy finally did something to be talked about.

    Mundy's hit on Heyward-Bey

It didn't draw a flag but it sure did offer some non calls in favor of the raiders.

I honestly don't understand what ya'll are seeing that I am not. Mundy leads with his helmet, he cannot do this. Bey did not lower his head, if anything his head is higher than may be expected. I don't think it was intentional at all, but that isn't in the rule book. Expect a heavy fine.

I appreciate a good hit, but i don't like to see a guy lay on the field motionless.

He's not leading with his head. Look at his hands just before he goes in for the hit, they are extended as to wrap up the receiver after he plants himself into his chest. Bey does what everyone does, sees the hit coming, ducks his head and the two collide.

He'll get fined there is no doubt, but this is just a part of the game.
