Dwyer should be the starter. To rush Mendy back would be insane. Mendy shouldn't be back until week # 5 at the earliest.
But If Dwyer is top 5 in the league in rushing by week# 5, do you sit Dwyer???

The Steeler way...is the only way.
Apparently Redman is as in the dark as everyone else about who will start.
Isaac Redman still isn’t sure who will start at halfback in Denver, but he says his health is pretty good. His hip/groin injury no longer bothers him and his ankle, injured in the third preseason game, is better.
“Right now I’m just trying to get my body right to carry the load if that’s what the coaches need,’’ Redman said before practice today. “I’m pretty close, I’m feeling pretty good and each day I’m getting better.”
Redman believes with everyone healthy, the Steelers have three potential feature backs – him, Rashard Mendenhall and Jonathan Dwyer.
“With me, Rashard and Dwyer, we have three guys who could be feature running backs. There’s never a problemt with that when you have three guys running the football.”

We don't have three feature backs. We have one feature back, one with the potential to be a feature back, and one who is a situational player at best.
@EdBouchette: And maybe #Steelers RB Rashard Mendenhall DOES have a chance to play Sunday night in Denver. It would be a stunning comeback from January ACL surgery that fooled many, including me, but he went through a full practice on Wednesday and he wore no support on his knee, not even a band. It's been my experience that coaches don't waste valuable practice time in 11-on-11 team drills in guys that have no chance of playing.*
Even if it by committee, Red and Dwyer should each get 12-17 carries. Zero need for Mendy to play this week unless literally all active RB's besides himself are injured.
I know I don't want Mendy risking a setback trying to come back too soon. I think A. Peterson is also making a mistake by trying to come back too soon.

I don't want Mendy playing until after the bye. We should be able to EASILY get by without him until then.
I think we should start Dwyer and let Redman do short yardage situations, that's what he is good at. Give Rainey some touches as well, especially if the opposing D is looking tired.
Bleeding Black and Gold since 86'
Start Dwyer.
Starting Mendenhall just makes no sense whatsoever. Even if Redman can't go, then start Dwyer and use either Redman or Mendy in relief but even then I'd still be ok with sittin 34 and using Dwyer along with Rainey or Batch. You'll have to have some type of rotation because guys will need O2 breaks in that thin air in Denver.
Running back by committee isn't the worse thing in the world anyway, we've been doing it for years regardless of if Mendenhall was the starter.
Dwyer then add Rainey on some 3rd downs. Redman in the Short Yardage and inside the ten's.
