Mendenhall and Hampton Activated Off PUP List

From Steelers. com: The Steelers activated veteran nose tackle Casey Hampton and veteran running back Rashard Mendenhall from the PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) List, the team announced today.

I am surprised about Mendenhall maybe more so than Casey.

I guess I buy into their verbiage too much sometimes. I heard Colbert talking at start of training camp and he made it sound as if for sure Mendy would be on PUP list for first 6 wks of season.

Re: Mendenhall and Hampton Activated Off PUP List

@albyoxNT Casey Hampton & RB Rashard Mendenhall have been activated from the PUP list but they can't practice in pads until next week. #Steelers

I'm a bit surprised too, is this a desperate move due to the running back situation? Not likely...

Casey coming off isn't quite as surprising only because they have McLendon and Ta'amu so the big snack can come back and ease back into practice.

Definitely surprised to see Worilds still there on the PUP.

Good to hear, but I hope Mendy isn't rushing back and has a set-back.

When you think about it, getting these guys off the PUP now, or sometime in preseason is better if both expect to be ready before week 6. If they start the regular season on the PUP they can't come off until then. I'd be shocked if either played in the first few weeks of the year but after that I could see one or both being activated as long as they don't have any setbacks.

Worilds just baffles me, if his wrist is that bad why hasn't he had some type of surgery? Why haven't we heard more about his status? He hasn't talked the media and nobody is saying anything.

As far as Hampton and Mendenhall go though, it's great that they are both doing well enough to come off and contribute sooner rather than later. You never know when injuries are going to hit you and having veterans like that with fresh legs is huge.

@AdamSchefter: Even though he is off PUP, Steelers' Rashard Mendenhall is not expected to be ready to play regular-season opener, could miss most of Sept.
