David Johnson waived/injured, TE Justin Peelle signed

@BobLabriola Signed is veteran TE Justin Peelle. David Johnson is waived injured, because he's on a 1-year deal.

Peelle is 6'4" 255 lbs. He's been in the league since 2002, playing with San Diego, Miami, Atlanta and San Francisco. In his career he's caught 123 passes for 1,003 yds and 12 TD's.

Was talking to Steeldad too and he mentioned it seems harsh to cut a player in this circumstance but it's a constant reminder that nobody is above getting the axe.

Hate to bring up Mike Wallace here but this exactly why I don't blame Mike for holding out until he has something long term locked up....NFL teams cut players all the time.....

I wouldn't say this closes the door on DJ. The Steelers may give him a chance again once he rehabs. They always impress me as a top notch organization.

They won't ditch him and Wallace shouldn't hold out cause as soon as he signs he will have a long term deal within a week

This is the same as IR just in preseason. He still gets paid but I think it gets some cap room for us. The only down side is others teams can pick him up and keep him on their 90 man roster and then ir him. But he is a fa after this year so they would still have to offer him a contract next year.

I dont know all the rules regarding this but if that is the case, why doesnt Wallace sign if he would still get paid?

Cause Wallace doesn't care abt 2.7 this year, he cares about 50 million over the next 5.
