    Weedon named Browns starter

The Browns made it official today when they announced that rookie Brandon Weedon will be the starter. This was a no brainer for them, if for no other reason than Weedon is already this close to 30, so letting him sit isn't going to accomplish much. LOL.

What do guys think of how he'll do this season?

He'll be better than most young rookies IMO but he'll still have his share of growing pains for certain.

Is Colt McCoy a backup then? Did he ever wake up from that Harrison hit?

I actually think he'll play well. If he was a few years younger he would've been the 3rd QB taken. He's better than Tannehill but he slipped due to his age. I honestly don't see the Browns being terrible this season. They have a very good young defense, added Weedon and Richardson (who is the best back to come out since Adrian Peterson), not to mention if Josh Gordon can become what they hope he can. Im not saying winning season by any means, they have a pretty tough schedule, but I dont see them being pushovers.

hes not better than tannehill, tannehill is raw but weeden is horribly erratic. I think they could put something together with gordon and richardson though

Great points. If I recall last year's Brown games, the second one we just happened to suck less than the Browns that day. So the Steelers won. Any given Sunday . . . .

I meant he's better now. Yes Tannehill is raw and has potential but I think he's gonna need time. Weeden can be erratic but I think he has what it takes to win games.

I like Weeden because he doesn't move around that much in the pocket. Easy target for Woodley.
The Steeler way...is the only way.

I agree they had no real choice here, if you're gonna draft a guy like Weedon you better start him and get him learning quickly. Either he gets better in the first year or falls flat on his face. They have nowhere to go to up based on past QB's they've drafted.
