Don't count out Kapinos to win the starting job over Drew Butler

This is the time when he's (Kapinos) finally got a realistic shot at becoming the full time Punter for the Steelers. Even if he was in camp last year and had the better stats over Sepulveda there was no way he was going to win that job. Pittsburgh always loves their veterans too much to do that and they wanted to give Danny S. one more chance to try and stay healthy.

His average is very close to rookie free agent Drew Bulter (Ray Guy award winner) but I think he knows this is his time to shine and he's going to have a good camp and may just win the job.

At Georgia last year Butler had an average of 44.24 while Kapinos came in after DSep went down and finished with an average of 45.0 through 8 games.

If you're interested, there's a podcast with Drew Butler done recently with the Bulldog Roundtable, local radio show for the college, where he talks about his opportunity to win the starting job. He starts his part of the show at the 6:22 mark.

He seems like a confident kid but some people seem to think he's implying that he's got the job already in the bag, just by listening to that show. He does say that he's excited about his chance to play and hopefully win but I'd be shocked if he didn't say that.

I like Kapinos, he's been a journeyman but I think he might have found his home here. I'll be surprised if he doesn't have a good camp, plus he's got the confidence of the coaching staff already, which as we know goes a long way in Pittsburgh.

I hated to see DS get hurt all the time...didn't think much about him untill he got hurt the first time and we couldn't punt out of our own back field. ..aaargh I would stick with Kapinos..we had a 2 time ray guy award winner already...

I wouldnt count out kapinos, but either one is fine with me

This...but I'll miss Sepulveda...I was a fan and he was a good luck charm when he got knocked out for a season...lol.

I felt so bad every year for Sepulveda when he kept blowing out his knee. It's been so long since we saw him finish a season though and it was just time to go.

I don't know why I have a soft spot for Kapinos, he's just been an underdog and always seems to come through when needed.

Kapinos is an average punter and eventully you'll have to pay him Butler is a better directional punter look at his stats at GA of kick downed inside the 20 it is phenominal. Ill take Butler over Kapinos any day

It's these damn Ray Guy award winners in Pittsburgh, they just don't last. We need the mutts like Jeff Reed who can atleast stick around for awhile and be consistent before falling apart in gas station bathrooms.
