Question Steelers have 3 of the top 100 highest paid athletes

The AFC North has 5 players according to Forbes Magazine, link courtesy of ESPN, that are on the top 100 highest paid athletes. The Steelers 3 on that list: Roethlisberger, Woodley, and Timmons:

    Forbes ranking: No. 12

    Total earnings: $37.3 million

    Salary/winnings: $37.1 million

    Endorsements: $200,000

Forbes note: Ngata signed a five-year deal worth $61 million in September.

    LaMARR WOODLEY, STEELERS LB

    Total earnings: $26.5 million

    Salary/winnings: $26.3 million

    Endorsements: $150,000

Forbes note: Woodley received a $13 million signing bonus as part of the new contract he signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2011.

    BEN ROETHLISBERGER, STEELERS QB

    Total earnings: $23.3 million

    Salary/winnings: $22.3 million

    Endorsements: $1 million

Forbes note: His off-field income took a hit with rape allegations that surfaced in 2010 (no charges were filed). Only Nike remains.

    JOE THOMAS, BROWNS OT

    Forbes ranking: No. 67

    Total earnings: $19.8 million

    Salary/winnings: $19.3 million

    Endorsements: $500,000

Forbes note: Thomas made $500,000 last year from sponsors like Nike and PepsiCo.

    LAWRENCE TIMMONS, STEELERS LB

    Forbes ranking: No. 78

Impressive. I think I am like somewhere around 12,456,710.8. I hope to work my way up a few spots. Those numbers are staggering. Thanks for posting the information. Fascination stuff!

Not a knock on Timmons and think he is a above average linebacker but not elite and not sure he deserves to be paid that highly but more power to him for making the deal.

My point and consider Troy and James elite players but not so much Timmons.

78 isnt exactly elite money...he just has quite a bit of guaranteed money coming his way this year

I guess troy and harrison have made their guaranteed money already because they were among the highest paid at their position 2 years ago

Yes, the numbers are for the year so obviously the person who signed a new contract will be up there.

Tiger $55 million in endorsements! Nice!
Roger Federer $45 million in endorsements... I never would have guessed.

Ben is going to remain high on the list especially as he gets towards the end of his deal.

Tiger Woods still makes ridiculous money, wow!
