This is what many of us have expected all along, Batch comes back on his traditional 1 yr. deal and all is right behind Ben Roethlisberger in QB land. Now, will they bring back Leftwich too? Dixon is gone so if they don't then it'll be a battle involving Troy Smith and Jerrod Johnson, both signed reserve contracts earlier this year.
The Steelers have re-signed backup quarterback Charlie Batch to a one-year contract, giving them an experienced signal-caller behind Ben Roethlisberger.
Batch, a Homestead native, has been with the Steelers since 2002. He has started seven games for the Steelers, including one last season.
Playing for the injured Roethlisberger last Dec. 24, Batch threw for 208 yards in leading the Steelers to a 27-0 win over the St. Louis Rams.
The Steelers are 5-2 in games Batch has started with them, and he joins Roethlisberger, Troy Smith and Jerrod Johnson as the quarterbacks on the team's roster. The Steelers are also interested in re-signing Byron Leftwich, who is an unrestricted free agent.Batch, 37, is entering his 15th season.
