Ward visits Georgia practice interested in coaching alma materNFL.com
Ward, the former Pittsburgh Steelers receiver who announced his retirement from the NFL earlier this month, was in Athens on Tuesday at the University of Georgia's spring practice getting a feel what it would be like to coach at his alma mater.

“He’s just trying to see if that’s something he wants to go into,” Georgia offensive coordinator Mike Bobo told the Athens Banner-Herald. “He’s going to spend some time over here, a couple of days to see what all we do. Not just out there in practice, but to see, hey, what do you do out there in recruiting, kind of see if that’s something he wants to do, kind of like when coaches come and visit.”

Wards visit to the Bulldogs' spring practice follows comments he made to an Atlanta TV station earlier this year about teasing Georgia coach Mark Richt about wanting to join his coaching staff.

“If he wants to hire me, hire me,” Ward said. “That would be my ultimate dream job to come back and coach at the University of Georgia.”

I still say Ward would be great as a broadcaster. I can definitely see him in that role.

I think he's still got the football itch and if UGA were to offer him some type of deal he'd probably jump at it.

In my opinion, he could make a very good coach. He's been acting as a mentor for the younger receivers. Imagine a Hines Ward trained receiver corp. The opposing "D" better have swivels on their heads.
