Hines is slow and should be behind Cotchery, I think he knows it...
like ward said, he's always been slow. that is nothing new and it has never preveted him from producing. you can complain about his lack of blocking of late, or anything else you may have noticed, but you cant really complain about his speed since he never had any to begin with. the guy is without a doubt one of my all time favorite players. he's a tough, physical team player who is as likely to level someone as smile at them.
the fact remains that no other WR on the team has been as clutch as hines ward. when the game is on the line id rather have hines on the field than any of the other receivers. id prefer to have hines and brown as it looks like brown is a blossoming clutch guy, but hines tends to find the crack in defenses, he makes the players around him better and has done so for a very long time.
he's the same slow, sure handed guy he's always been and i for one can understand the lack of smiles from him lately.
want to keep the other guys in for pure pass plays? cool. but keep hines in for run plays and play actions especially in short yardage situations.
Since the new rules Hines isn't even blocking well...
Sorry gang he's done...
Look for the Steelers to make sure Ben reaches atleast this milestone early on in the game. Get that out of the way, which in theory shouldn't affect your gameplan much. All in all it's a tough call, trying to help a player get these types of goals but not lose site of the gameplan.
Getting him a catch or 2 to get 9 yards shouldn't be that difficult.
