Did you follow these instructions (http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstalling_Firefox) when you uninstalled because half the time using Add Remove Programs does NOT completely remove everything when an app is uninstalled!
There should be a "clean" option to include with the FF uninstall if it's ran from the command line but FF doesn't have it...

Honest it's the same version you all are using but mine works fine, atleast far as I can tell, Im still getting tons of pages
