I fear, even if we were able to establish some success running the ball (which i very much doubt with Haynesworth and Lardass blocking the lanes) Arians would still give it short shrift, he's not happy unless we're passing the ball, and that will never change. fact.

If we had good play calling in the run game, I would say run it down their throats. But Bruce Arians is absolutely awful at calling a creative and well planned run game. In this game, everyone has to play to their strengths, unfortunately that includes our OC.
Im pretty sure I wrote " If we run well" if not throw!

And why does it have to be Mendy, didnt hear me say that! Run Redman, run Dwyer just try and establish the run. If not no huddle keep BA out of the play calling!

    OC.
Not for nothing, but 30 carries for 90 yards sounds bad, but it would likely leave the Steelers in a lot of 3rd and 4 situations, which are much more manageable than 3rd and 8 or 9.

Look at MJD the other night vs the Ravens, he went over 100, but he also had 30+ carries. it took a lot of time and wore out the Ravens Defense. There are some positives to 3 yards and a cloud of dust.

However, just have to take what the defense gives; key for the Steelers is to stay out of 3rd and long.

It really depends on how the game is going, even a little bit of a running game is better than nothing. 3 yds a carry is not a good average overall but sometimes in a game all you can get is a few yards here and there. If you can atleast make the defense think that you're going to run and be semi successful at it they still have to honor it.

The Steelers are a passing team though, no question about it. Balance is the key and this year they haven't had that. Either they run all over the place and have a low day throwing the ball or Ben throws for 350 yds but they get can't anywhere on the ground consistently.

they have to run effectively otherwise play action passing will not open up. It will simply give the pats d-line a running start; especially if they don't respect the play fake.

With the receiving threats and inability of the line to be consistent in the run game, it makes sense to be more reliant on the passing game. Still, it would be nice to see the run game pick up this Sunday. The best defense when playing the Pats is a good offense and time of possession is key (if it translates to touchdowns).

Steelers are a very dangerous team when they have a balanced attack.

Guarantee here...1st play of the game for the Steelers on Offense, dive right with Mendy, Pats run blitz stuff it, 2nd and 9.

The steelers are most effective in play action when they freeze the db's wallace runs by them touchdown we need the running game we are not the packers
Personally i would run a flea- flicker on the first play
