I anticipate Brady throwing at least 40 times - might be the punch and Judy 4 yard passes to Welker, but that's what I expect. Steelers just need to light him up a few times. Last time they played, Brady was touched let alone sacked. Steelers need to do a better job disguising blitzes.
no what they need to do is stop trying to trick him, he gets it...he knows what to do. they need to beat their man one on one up front, they need to stick to their man or their zone in the back.
i feel like they try to overdo the gameplan vs the patriots too much and then welker or the TEs will just destroy the world.
timmons needs to play inside against the pats too, farrior and foote are barely bodies in the way of gronk and hernandez, they will be useless in that open space where timmons and troy need to run shit.
but if that means worilds playing outside...im not too excited
What they've done in the past doesn't work, so sooner or later they have to change something up. I'm not saying Lebeau will actually do it; he is set in his ways and believes in his defense. That's fine, it's not like it hasn't been successful. However time and time again the short passing game and a good TE just shreds the Steelers defense. He wants to play off the receivers and keep everything in front of him. When you have a QB like Brady who gets rid of it so quick you basically giving them 5 free yards for a pitch and catch backyard score fest. You play right into Brady's hands that way. He'll take that defense all day long. Jam the receivers at the line and get quick pressure from the front 3. You do that and you can disrupt what the Pats want to do. Don't do that and you're in for a long day.
Jason Worilds has got to get on the field at some point this year. He keeps aggravating that quad injury. His training and preseason were nothing special by any stretch. Tomlin was considering playing him on the outside opposite Woodley while Harrison has been out but that hasn't materialized. The telling story is that Mike Tomlin didn't just automatically say that Worilds would take the field on the outside, but rather said he'd wait and see. That says as much as the job Timmons' is doing as much as it does about Worilds.
Hamtpon is a situational guy like I've said before. He's struggled this season with the double teams and chop blocking. McLendon and Hoke both are lighter on their feet and seem to be able to handle those situations better, atleast so far.
Ward missing this game would not be the worst thing in the world simply because we got a glimpse of what the other 3 receivers can do last Sunday after Hines went down with the ankle. Still though, in a big game like this you want all of your ammo available because it will take a complete game to beat the Patriots.
Legursky being out is troublesome because Chris Kemoeatu continues to incur those personal fouls. Doug seemed to find a home at Left Guard in Kemo's absence. While nobody is willing to say that Legursky is the new starting Guard for the Steelers, if Kemoeatu continues the nonsensical extra curricular fouls, Tomlin may consider reinserting Legursky when he's healthy.
