Sidney Crosby OK for practice contact
Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby has been cleared for contact in practices, but there is no timetable for his return to game action.
Crosby, who has been wearing a different-colored helmet during practices, indicating he was not to be hit, was wearing a black helmet Thursday during the morning skate, the same as his teammates.
"I'm cleared for full contact," Crosby said. "It's a good step in the right direction. We'll see how it goes in the next little bit."
Crosby has not played in a game since Jan. 6 because of post-concussion symptoms. He has been skating with the team since training camp, and has not had any recurrence of headaches or dizziness.
There was no hitting in Thursday's workout, but Crosby said he was hoping his teammates will help him get back into the game.
"I might have to do something to get them to hit me," he said. "Maybe I'll have to bump them a little bit and get them going. As close to a game situation as we can get it."
