The Steelers and Mayor Luke Ravenstahl will announce the naming of a new street on the North Shore for former head coach Chuck Noll on Friday. Chuck Noll Way will run from North Shore Drive to General Robinson Street next to the Stage AE amphitheater.
Members of the Rooney family and former Steelers Mel Blount and Andy Russell are expected to attend a 10 a.m. ceremony outside the amphitheater to honor the four-time Super Bowl-winning coach.
Plans to name the street for Mr. Noll have been in the works for more than two years. Other streets in the stadium complex on the North Shore are named for former Pirates great Bill Mazeroski, late Steelers owner Art Rooney and former University of Pittsburgh running back Tony Dorsett.
