Chuck Noll finally gets a street named after him

The Steelers and Mayor Luke Ravenstahl will announce the naming of a new street on the North Shore for former head coach Chuck Noll on Friday. Chuck Noll Way will run from North Shore Drive to General Robinson Street next to the Stage AE amphitheater.

Members of the Rooney family and former Steelers Mel Blount and Andy Russell are expected to attend a 10 a.m. ceremony outside the amphitheater to honor the four-time Super Bowl-winning coach.

Plans to name the street for Mr. Noll have been in the works for more than two years. Other streets in the stadium complex on the North Shore are named for former Pirates great Bill Mazeroski, late Steelers owner Art Rooney and former University of Pittsburgh running back Tony Dorsett.

I'm glad they were able to get this done. Noll is a legendary coach not only in Pittsburgh but of course, but in the NFL and all of sports. The first to win 4 Super Bowls, and win in Canton full of the players he helped bring in.

I did hear though that he was not going to be attending the service, although that was awhile back so perhaps he has changed his mind.

He deserves it and it doesn't surprise me that he won't attend the ceremony. He always hid in the back ground out of the spotlight. He would say that was for the players not the coaches. A humble but great coach and man.

Yeah it's not surprising that he isn't going to attend. It would be nice to see him there though, get some pics taken with the street sign and the players that will show up for the ceremony.

A class act that lead by example. His players did what was expected of them and expected nothing less than their best. He certainly didn't have the fiery persona that Bill Cowher did, but in same ways he reminds you of Mike Tomlin. Doesn't show much emotion on the sidelines but quietly goes about his business.

Nice to see, should have happened sooner.

Don't do that. We don't need you. We didn't need you at the beginning, we don't need you now."

Noll is one of the greatest coaches of alltime. He never gets mentioned among the greats, although he is.
    Cleveland Browns suck!
