Strongest position on the Steelers roster

The Steelers have some very good depth at many positions this season. It's a nice change from the years past where we had 11 starters on offense and defense and virtually nobody behind them. The backups have been and will be a very key part of how well the Steelers do this year. Just about every position has capable backups that can come in at any time and perform well.

Which unit is the strongest in terms of both starters and depth?

I would give an obvious nod to the Wide Receivers. If you include Cotchery there are 5 legitimate threats that Ben can go to at any given time. 3 of which could be starters on any team right now; Ward, Wallace, and Cotchery. Both Brown and Sanders will be starting caliber players by the end of the year.

The other one that gets a vote for me is the Defensive Line. All 3 starters have been together for years and are some of the best at what they do in the 34. They understand their role and they are tops at stopping the run. With Hood, Heyward, McLendon, and Hoke backing them up you almost don't miss a beat when they are in.

I voted WR & TE. I think Saunders is the real deal.

gotta go with WR's as well. LB's a close 2nd.

For me, it came between LB and WR. The Steelers have an undeniably strong LB corps, but I got to thinking: Harrison isn't the same this season and Farrior looks like he did the year before last. That leaves us with two guys in Woodley and Timmons who are good and two who are a bit of a concern at this point in the season. Depth wise, we have Foote and Worilds. Decent backups, but I would be scared to see either starting right now.

Then I look at receivers. Wallace and Ward lead the pack for us. You have the consistency from Ward and Wallace who has transformed from a young man capable of burning defensive backs to a wideout capable of running cleaner routes and snagging passes that should have been dropped. Behind them, you have another veteran in Cotchery and two youngsters with a lot of talent: Sanders and Brown. To me, the receiving corps is stacked with better talent and each player is useful in the scheme at this point.

Also, I apologize if this post makes no sense. I haven't had coffee yet and imagine this post came off like a rambling mess.

If you didn't vote WR then you might be pretty new to the Steeler Nation and that is okay with me. Just sayin.

2 other people must not have had their coffee yet either, if they chose the secondary

I'm surprised more haven't had the running backs yet. Mendenhall and Redman are a dynamite combo, and then you throw in the improved Jonathan Dwyer and Memo as a 3rd down back. That's a pretty good stable of players right there.
