Maybe not trading or picking up any players this season hurt?? We needed some defense!

What hurt was MAF letting in an average of 6 goals a game in the 4 that we lost.

I agree, the garbage goals kept finding their way in net.

The Pens had the option of sitting Crosby till the playoffs started and not having to pay him at all for the season. Which would have left them around 9 million to spend on players to pick up for playoff run and shot at another cup. Was it worth it to let Sidney play those 22 games? I don't think so. Should have sat him and rented a player or 2.

Sorry, but you dont sit one of the best players in the league when he is back before the playoffs. You get him ready to play.
I could name a lot of reasons they lost and it wasnt because of Sid.

The 9 million they would have saved could have rented 2 maybe even 3 quality players for a cup run. Would have done alot better if Paul Martin would have sat out, also if MAF didnt play like a piece of swiss cheese.

I like your thinking but still, you dont sit Crosby if he is healthy. The D needs to be addressed that is for sure.

Well sitting Crosby would have been only way they could have afforded to sign someone. I think he could have played in 10 games or less and they still wouldn't have had to pay his salary. I forget how it all works out. Been months since I read article about it in the PPG

Sorry, gotta agree with Steelersfan on this one. Crosby was going to come back when he was healthy. I don't think he would have taken, "sorry, you're out until the playoffs so we can sign some other players" very well.
