    Rate Marcus Gilbert's first start

Not a very good day overall for Gilbert, but not the worst ever. They kept David Johnson or Heath Miller over on his side to help out quite a bit after the first series when he was completely owned. On the Steelers second drive they began giving him help more often and things settled down.

This is something we all expected to happen, and he is a rookie so you have to keep that in your mind when thinking about his play today. On the play where Ben got hurt, Brock just blew right by him with a spin move. Other times he just looked completely lost and out of position; not sealing his side or letting his man get the inside crease. Tomlin also wisely kept some help in the backfield to account for the pressure coming on pass plays. Overall like I said it wasn't a terrible performance but he showed his inexperience and the only solution for that is playing time.

I actually think he was pretty decent when we ran the ball, but he was being dominated all day long in pass protection. He'll learn though! Personally, I think he'd be a better LT than RT, but we'll see I guess.
However much you think you know about football, rest assured that Skip Bayless knows more!

He was decent in the run game, yes. It's always easier for lineman to learn the run game rather than the passing game of course. He's going to take time, but with each game he'll get more experience and learn to deal with his opponent much better. As far as LT goes, at this point you wonder if he would be any worse than J. Scott.

I was very pleased with him, since it was his first game. I think he will do nothing but improve, Im sure pouncey and company are tutaring him. Our offensive line will only get BETTER as the season goes on. This is the youth movement on the o-line/ alot of 2nd 3rd year guys, so there will be some stumbles. But im glad were doing this. There only going to get better imho.

The big test comes next week against Mathis from the Colts. I expect to see Miller help him out a lot next week.

I am more worried about Scott on Freeney.
