Not a very good day overall for Gilbert, but not the worst ever. They kept David Johnson or Heath Miller over on his side to help out quite a bit after the first series when he was completely owned. On the Steelers second drive they began giving him help more often and things settled down.
This is something we all expected to happen, and he is a rookie so you have to keep that in your mind when thinking about his play today. On the play where Ben got hurt, Brock just blew right by him with a spin move. Other times he just looked completely lost and out of position; not sealing his side or letting his man get the inside crease. Tomlin also wisely kept some help in the backfield to account for the pressure coming on pass plays. Overall like I said it wasn't a terrible performance but he showed his inexperience and the only solution for that is playing time.
